Question

Good Morning Dhananjay,

How are you? Have some queries regarding asanas and meditation.

1.At present i am doing yogic practice in sukhasana and i tried padmasana and vajrasana but it is very difficult for me as i am not flexible to do padmasana and can't stay for longer period in vajrasana can you please suggest some other asanas or streches so that we can improve flexibility and perform those asanas easily.

2.while i meditate i saw that after 8 or 10 minutes i am unable to continue meditation.

3.while browsing i came across biography of Mahavatar Babaji and read that he was teaching sushumnanadi meditation to his followers can we practice it.

Thanks for the help you are offering.
Ganapathi.

Answer

1. Pratice Yogasana-s such as:
•   Paschimnothanasana
•   Padahasthasana
•   Sivanandasana
•   Dhanurasana

These will help improve flexibility. Perform stretches and warm up exercises before Yogic Asana-s if there is a severe lack of flexibility. Flexibility will improve once Padmasana or Sidhasana is mastered. Without mastering any one of these Asana-s, long meditation is not possible.

2. Meditation becomes longer only through practice. Hence one must practice as much as possible.

3. There is no meditation which does not involve the use of ‘Sushumna Naadi’. All kinds of meditations use the Sushumna Naadi as a channel to raise Kundalini Shakti to the Sahasrara chakra in the brain. Follow the instructions that have been prescribed in past answers.
