Temporal-Permanent body.
Question
Pranamam to pujya Guru,
I am having this doubt why we say body temporary when body is made of 5 elements which are emereged from Brahman which is permanent. five elements are also sparkles(jiva) in the fire(paramatma) like individual jiva, why we say only jiva is permanent and body made of five elements are temporary??
Answer
The screen is permanent while the moving images on it are temporary. The images cannot exist without the screen, whereas the screen exists even after the images have stopped.
The 'Panchamahabhutas' (five elements of creation) are not the Atman. They are an illusion on the screen of pure consciousness, like the images on a screen. Just as the images on the television cease to be when the program ends, so do these elements dissolve into their source after the Atman leaves the body. Just as the television screen remains even after the end of many programs and their images, the Atman is eternal. It is very simple.
