Honest heart

Question

Hello,

When some say that gods appear to who possess honest heart, what does the expression honest heart means in a spiritual context? Is it brahmacharya or virtue?

Thanks

Answer

Brahmacharya, virtue, honesty, all are one and the same. An honest heart in the spiritual context is a term that points to complete purity of the mind wanting nothing but the knowledge of the Atman (self). The honest heart is free from greed, deceit, cunning, manipulation, attachment, arrogance, jealousy etc.

A relatively pure person experiences this state occasionally when he feels a completely pure, selfless (Egoless) and divine feeling towards himself and the entire world without any desire, unrest or coveting for anything. The state is however temporary and is soon replaced by the turbulence of the Ego which resurges with force on account of the seeds of past Samskara-s (impressions) & Vasana-s (tendencies) of 'Avidya' (ignorance) present within.

When such seeds are roasted in the fire of Yoga to know the self, the pure Atman (self) alone remains. Such a sage resides in that state of bliss all the time, without the least desire for anything external.

ॐ तत् सत्
(That Supreme being is the absolute truth)
