Pranayama & Kriya Yoga

Question

Dear Sir,

i was reading paramahansa yoganandas, autobiography, in that i have seen kriya yoga as his main yogic technique.

Is kriya yoga same as pranayama, i would be grateful if you can throw us some light on this

thanks

Answer

1. Kriya Yoga is a method to realize the self, just as other forms of Yoga.

2. Pranayama is an 'Anga' (component limb) of many forms of Yoga such as Kriya Yoga, Raja Yoga etc. Pranayama, therefore, by itself is not Kriya Yoga.
