Queries on Guru & self-realized beings

Dhananjay • 9/11/2014
Question

Dear Sir,

Please clear these doubts of this aspirant in the path of the self.

1. How does one know he has met his Guru? What are the signs of a real Guru. In this world 99% of people promoting Yoga and spirituality are out for money and some gain or the other. The others are not self-realized and hence have incomplete knowledge. So what is the way?

2. What will a self-realized being reply if someone asks him "Are you self-realized"?

Thank you for the guidance sir.

Answer

1. When one suddenly feels deep devotion & respect for him from within... When one feels immense peace and calmness in his presence or his teachings... When the mind lets go of all other desires and simply wishes to hear his words with utmost attention and commitment... When after hearing or seeing him, one feels unexplained bliss & joy... When one knows "The time has come" and there is nothing more important... When one no longer feels any anxiety about life but only wants to apply his teachings honestly, as though everything else will be taken care of... When one feels an unseen, yet very powerful force guiding him to do that which is necessary... When one cries with tears of devotion, like a child, for no reason and wants to practice virtue, truth and Brahmacharya, with an urge that cannot be explained... Then, it is to be known that the Guru has been found.

Then, it is to be known that the Lord has shown his grace, in transferring one from a life of 'Bhoga' (sense pleasure, which ends in suffering) to the path of 'Yoga' (Union with the Supreme, which confers liberation). There is none more fortunate & blessed than one who has found his 'Guru', who is nothing but the manifestation of the Lord in flesh and blood. The chosen aspirant should then onward take up the practice with utmost honesty, never failing the Lord, who has been kind enough to shower HIS grace, as the Guru.

2. Who is to answer? The one who sought realization (Ego) is gone... Who is there? There is none to answer. THAT alone remains in that body. So there will be no answer; only silence.

ॐ तत् सत्
(That Supreme being is the absolute truth)
