Food and Sadhana
Question
Dear Dhananjay,
I suffer from horrible digestion issues.
Specifically, my stool doesn't evacuate smoothly and completely. It is dry, constipated, sometimes thick and greasy, and altogether causes great mental disturbance.
One the few occassions where bowel movements are moving properly (very rare), my mental state is sublime. Crisp, focused, memory is sharp, no brain fog.
But 99% of the time-great distress, discomfort, and today I yelled with a primal roar while sitting on the toilet.
I will follow your protocol of pranayama.
In addition, an ayurvedic expert has suggested taking slippery elm, milk thistle, barberry root, and taurine to help me solve the condition.
1) Shall I avoid this or follow the protocol?
Life is unbearable. After a slightly large meal, I rush to bathroom. Stool doesn't come completely. Remaining stool in rectum causes discomfort, brain fog, annoyance.
2) I have come to conclusion that living in a small apartment with perfect health is superior to living in a palace but besieged with illnesses like mine. Is the almighty teaching me?
3) Could you please tell me how to stifle the disgusting jealousy in my mind? It ravages me. I envy other bestselling authors, wanting to be an author myself. I envy the success of other rich people. I am poor. I also wonder how others deal with jealousy. In professional sports, some players like Nadal and Federer make millions while other players must work at low end restaurants to make money to live. Could you please suggest how an aspiring yogi should go about curbing the jealousy, which like anger is another offshoot of the ego?
4) I am terrified of losing my seed. As such, I do not know if I can ever have children. My fear is that my terrible self abuse led me to my stomach problems but I don't know. I also don't want to be lonely. Is it appropriate to find a spiritually compatible female who will live with me, support me, but stay on a platonic relationship? My work is intense and I would benefit tremendously from having someone for emotional support, cooking, cleaning, etc.
Thank you,
Devi Moo
Answer
Pranayama when practiced daily, will gradually set right the issue in the coming years. Perform the complete set of Yoga Sadhana as outlined in past answers.
1. Any natural, unprocessed food which agrees with the system can be taken in moderate quantity.
2. One gets what he has earned. The body is placed in circumstances dictated by past karma. Let it be so, for one is not the body. Realizing this, one should reside in the self.
3. Do your Sadhana honestly. Things will set right.
4. If one's Sadhana is proper with devotion to the Almighty, the path is made easy. A suitable life partner will come if so destined, at the ripe time.
