Friends with opposite sex

QUESTION: Is a close and friendly relation with opposite sex harmful?, even though it is just limited to being friends and exchange of opinions, motivating/ educating each other and nothing beyond this.
Does this contribute towards abrahmacharya or adharmic in any way?
ANSWER: It is not harmful in the ideal sense, by itself. However, it will divert the mind off Sadhana, dilute one's efforts & eventually instigate sexual tendencies, following which downfall begins.
The pursuit of the truth cannot afford any other form of distraction.

QUESTION: You mean to say friendship with opposite sex is the only thing which diverts the mind and dilutes the efforts in comparision to friendship with friends of same sex.
I mean to ask if friendship (of same gender) is not harmful?
Answer
Any activity which draws one into its fold again & again, causing attachment is an impediment; be it through the same or opposite gender.
