Meditation to recharge

Dhananjay • 6/28/2013
Question

Hello,

1-Can concentration of your mind in one thoughts or what is called one-pointed meditation for long periods of time helps your health or help you achieve longevity?

2-And if yes what is the cause of that, is it because your prana enter your body in more quantity when your thoughts stops?

I would like to practice this and achieve just 4 or 5 hours of sleeping.

Thanks

Answer

1. The single pointed focus should be on the formless self and not on other objects. Such meditation contributes to health and longevity.

2. The Atman (self) is the source of all energy and power. It is the source which is powering the mind as well, just as a battery powers a bulb. When the mind which acts as the barrier between consciousness and the self is overcome through merger into its source, it merges into this void while the physical body gets recharged with Prana (vital energy) from the infinite self.

Those who achieve such thought-free meditation on the self require lesser sleep.
