Question

Hello.

I would like to thank you for your words of wisdom which has helped me achive a better life.
I've been practicing Brahmacharya for 1 year, its was long and hard but all worthwhile.
I understand the benefit, the peaceful ness that it brings, Life is good in all walks of Life I finally feel I'm letting go of the retraints of society.
The question I would like to put to you is, because I'm practicing celebacy how can a have a loving relationship with women.
I practice yoga and excercise out doors and the feeling it brings has made me want to commit to soul to Brahmacharya, If i commit myself, can I connect with someone in a relationship
I've recently ended a relationship after a year with a Women
I never told her I was practicing Brahmacharya, because I feel people need to find Brahmacharya themselfs.
She had Cancer, before we got into a relationship and was constantly unwell at times, over the past 8 month she is never unwell and when she got a check up a lot of the cancer and gone, and all that was required was a small operation.
I belive I gave her my Energy when we had intercourse, which i belive helped cure the Cancer.
Once she was better, I belive my time with her was done.
I leave some guilt, reason being I enjoyed having a Female companion,
Can you practice Brahmacharya and be in a relationship, with someone who doesn't practice Brahmacharya.

Thank you

Answer

1. Who gave whom energy? Let go of the 'I' and 'her' and know it is the Lord who is the doer of all things. Without HIS power, one cannot even move a fallen leaf.

2. Any relationship with the opposite sex as 'man-woman' outside the precincts of marriage ends in suffering. The purpose of 'cupid' (attraction) is to bring together man and woman into matrimony, to form a family. Not more. Extending the power of cupid for 'enjoyment' is the gateway to sorrow. Hence a man or woman wishing the companionship of the other should do so only within holy wedlock which is taken to its rightful purpose of producing offspring immediately. the purpose of sexual activity is procreation and not recreation.
