Progess in the Path

Dhananjay • 2/3/2017
Question

I have read about human sexuality from Indian and Western sources and have come to a conclusion that continence is the natural state of life.

But, before gaining this vital knowledge, I have been a chronic masturbator for more than a decade. I regard this the darkest aspect of my life.

However, since January I have been able to practice Brahmacharya with just two-three lapses. I consider this good progress given my history of incontinent behavior. I think having the right knowledge has transformed my perception.

My question is - could you please elaborate on the indicators of progress that I could look for to be sure that I am ascending in the path of brahmacharya.

Im about to turn 28 in March and I intend to marry by 30. I have read that the sins of one generation befall on the coming generation. I would never want an innocent soul to suffer because of my mistakes or inherit unnatural tendencies. I remember finding porn cd's in my dads wardrobe when I was small, and perhaps I got this tendency from him. But I dont blame him because whether to act on my impulses or not is completely under my power and I want to do better going forward.

Could you tell me certain practices that I can undertake so that I can possess a sound body and soul and do not transmit my dysfunctionality to future generations of my family.

Thanking you for your invaluable service.

Go through the past answers where all aspects of Sadhana and their detailed procedure, for the efficient practice of Brahmacharya have been elaborated. Absorb the essence and apply the same with devotion. The path to be taken will be known.
